The policy is an extension of one affecting notebooks, and MLB Advanced Media CEO Bob Bowman claims it was put in place to prevent people from becoming "distracted and getting hit in the face with a ball." Anecdotes suggest that it may still be possible to smuggle one in at personal risk.
