The Aquamacs Project has launched a major upgrade to its Emacs-based text editing utility, Aquamacs 2.0. The software is designed as a simplified version of the Emacs user interface, and provides a variety of tools such as a spell checker, and customizable fonts and color options. With the latest release the app is now fully Cocoa-based and offers 64-bit support for Macs. It also provides improved dialogs for a variety of actions including opening, printing and saving files, displaying user messages, and configuring fonts and colors.
