HTC has seen a rush of phone sales and now expects its smartphone shipments to jump 40 percent, to 7.8 million phones, for the first half of 2010. The revelation came after HTC said it should move 4.5 million phones in the spring alone. In the winter, its shipments had already jumped by 37 percent to 3.3 million based on still-strong sales in the US and revived demand in Asia and Europe.
