The release of Opera Mini marks a new twist in the history of the App Store. Apple has, for several reasons, traditionally blocked any browser that might compete with Safari; as a result most of the browsers on the App Store have been little more than shells, tacking on extra options. Opera represents the first major, completely independent browser to be approved by Apple, and may potentially draw some users away -- in spite of some limitations.
