The iPad should over time evolve into the "central console for the home," even if expectations should be guarded for the time being, says UBS analyst Maynard Um. The firm is beginning its first unit estimates for the iPad, calling for 2.1 million tablets to ship in FY2010, followed by another 4.6 million in FY2011. The major obstacle for Apple is said to be a lack of apps, at present, that can genuinely lure in the public.
