The panel used in the iMac 27" has impressed most of the customers and Pro users who have been able to look at it and work on it, beside its impressive 2560x1440 resolution with such size, LED backlighting also offers great brightness and color rendering. For the moment, no other companies have been able to put its hands on this panel, but this could change in coming weeks. According to some information leaking from Dell, there are some references to a forthcoming display known as U2711 and offering the same 2560x1440 resolution. According to history of Dell displays, we should then access to a good quality display similar to the one experienced with the iMac 27", with as much as or even more features for connecting peripherals or devices at a lower price. Apple might decide to open a war of display by releasing a 27" LED display using the same panel found in the iMac 27", and the same enclosure and design than the current 24" LED Apple Cinema Display.
