After being condemned to a record fine of 1.06 billion euros (£950M, $1.57B) by Europe, Intel announced two procedures. The first is a traditional call in which all business will be re-examined. The second aims to invalidate the first (and thus to make net result of the procedures zero). To this end, Intel had seized the European Mediator P. Nikiforos Diamandouros, deducing that points of the proceeding were disputed and restored the sentence in question. This latter has just returned its verdict: There were indeed points of contention in the procedure which were not perfect, but they do not call into question the final judgement. Intel is thus vindicated but the mediator benefitted from it as to have given recommendations to the civil servant who had carried out the first proceedings so that these errors are no longer made.
