Apple released Performance 1.0 for Leopard and Snow Leopard.
After looking into the installation package, it seems that the extension IOAHCIFamily.kext has been updated. It is related to the software layer communicating with Advanced Host Controller Interface allowing control and management of functions and specificities of the SATA bus.
This update is not proposed automatically to all computer, indicating a hardware specific distribution. This could be a new hope for the owners of EFI 1.7-based MacBook Pro, even though we doubt it will fix it. As usual, the limited comment from Apple Support website does not really inform us about the bug being fixed:
