Everyday court cases are started in the United States for violation of patent. Companies such as Rambus make a business of it while others obtain for a patent that sometimes has never used colossal fortunes.Since some time the American Senate has in its cupboard a bill to reform these patents. IBM now takes this moment to incite them to vote on this bill. The goal of this reform is to limit the damages that the courts can impose in the event of a violation, since certain judgments often go over-the-top. Of course this future legislation does not have unanimous support. While some are in favour, others fear that the levelling off of the compensations will incite yet more violations. It would however be a good thing which could encourage the two parties to be heard more easily and to solve the rather ludicrous situation where companies such as Apple patent just about everything to prevent others from doing this in their place.
