Last week, NVidia presented with a grand ceremony its future graphics chip called Fermi. On this occasion a card was shown and photographed by the invited journalists. A detailed study of the photographs showed that the card could not be functional, certain connectors are not soldered and others are missing.
Faced with these unarguable facts NVidia admitted that they have presented something less than a prototype, and more a model of a future product. In fact this awkwardness is without much consequence. It is not rare that products presented well before their release are actually only empty shells, but this at least confirms the intentions of NVidia.
