LaCie chose today to quietly roll out a high-end USB speaker set for notebooks. The Sound2 two-channel set has tube-shaped speaker cabinets with internal engineering from French audio firm Cabasse. Each satellite has a driver with a modest range between 80Hz and 20kHz but with a 15W internal amp for each speaker. They can output at the combined 30W of power when attached to an AC outlet, but in truly mobile use they can run entirely on power from the USB bus.
