After Hitachi and Western Digital, Seagata announced its new 2 TB hard drive spinning at 7200 rpm. Just like the equivalent model of Western Digital, it is fitted with 64 MB of cache. It however stands out from the competition thanks to its SATA III interface (6 Gbits/s) that still remains not very widespread. It will allow those that have PCs that are equipped with it to speed up the transfers between the machine and the cache of the hard drive, the mechanical part remaining unable to exceed the 300 MB/s in reading or writing.
The price of these disks is not yet known.
