Microsoft has just announced a new initiative concerning the sales of Windows 7 which proves that the company will do everything and anything so that its system is adopted on a massive scale. They will start hunting on the grounds of Apple (in the United States) by offering to students a licence of their future OS for the sum of $29,99 - a price identical to the public price of Snow Leopard. This offer also makes us also think that the company will try to sell its OS in certain countries where the pirating was so massive that the sales were marginal. They also will offer the OS at a low price saying that it is to better gain some dollars by licensing a million units rather than selling nothing. This special student price perhaps forms part of the same strategy. Finances of the students are not very strong, and a number of them could have chosen to pirate the Microsoft OS rather than to have to invest hundreds of Euros.
