OCZ Unveiled a New PCI Express SSD
OCZ unveiled its Z Drive.

It is a SSD featuring SLC or MLC memory chips, to be plugged on a PCI Express slot.
SLC-based model: available in 256 GB or 512 GB, offers 800 MB/s and 750 MB/s respectively in reading and writing mode, and supports 16,000 input/output per seconds.
MLC-based model: available with storage space ranging from 256 GB to 1 TB, offers 770 to 870 MB/s and 640 to 780 MB/s respectively in reading and writing mode (depending on models). The MLC chips will allow only 10,000 input/output per second.
Price are proportional to performance levels, the 256 GB MLC SSD will cost around 1,300 €, while the 1 TB model will be around 4,000 €. OCZ announces that its drives can be used as booting volume with most OS, including Mac OS X, so it could offer a perfect tool for Pro users willing to deal with the bottlene
