As one should have expected it, the new version of iTunes prevents the hack from Palm to make the Pré recognized as an iPhone. It might be time for Palm to invest time and resources for developing a true dedicated application able to make part of the job offered by iTunes. RIM just did it for its BlackBerry to make them deeply compatible for synchronization with Mac OS X utilities (Contacts, address book, iCal, etc.), giving Mac users the opportunity of having a Blackberry without sacrifying ease of use and syncing.
