In Mac OS X , the primary way to create a user is to go to the Accounts system preferences and click the "+" button. The procedure from there is pretty self-explanatory. However, this can be done at the terminal prompt as well, which may be useful if you are logged in remotely to your system via the command line, or if the Accounts system preference pane is malfunctioning.
