One of the main problem of GPU designer such as NVidia is to make their GPU produced by the best founders. As current example is the problem faced by ATI/AMD to make TSMC to reach good yield for producing the Radeon HD 4770, the first desktop computer GPU to be engraved at 40 nm. NVidia is also affected and needs to have founders able to offer engraving process as thin as possible to be able to keep performance level on the high end while controlling power consumption and heat release. Unexpectedly, the solution could come from its main past enemy, the outsourced foundry from AMD, now known as Globalfoundries. According to recent reports, NVidia is ready to singed a partnership for its futures GPU with Globalfoundries.
If it becomes official, it will prove that Globalfoundries by working with NVidia and ATI/AMD, it is an independent company aiming at serving its customers, independently of the past history. This could help AMD and Globalfoundries in thei
