Updates for OCZ Vertex SSD
OCZ released a new firmware for its Vertex SSD. Among the new features:
- firmware (1.30)
- No need to uninstall the SSD to flash it, one can download an ISO image to be burn on a CD, including Freedos, that will let you flash the firmware of your SSD directly in the MacBook Pro.
- as a consequence no need of jumper for flashing the SSD too
- the format remained the same between the previous and the new firmware (respectively 1.10 and 1.30), so you should not lose data, but you should always perform a backup before a flashing procedure.
Unfortunately, all Vertex still have a bug when installed in unibody MacBook and MacBook Pro models: not possible to boot on a Windows partitions, as pressing "alt" key during the boot freezes the computer. this issue has not been fixed by OCZ yet, even on its SSD labelled "Mac certified".
