Intel announced to have acquired the Wind River Systems company for 884 millions USD. This company is editing mobile solutions for handheld and mobile computing. It complements Intel expertise on mobile platforms, help the giant to offer the best performance on devices with usually either limited CPU power or limited energy. Most solutions from Wind River Systems are used in cars, security or military environments.So, now it is unclear if Intel wants to enter such niche but highly profitable market, or if they want to recycle expertise and knowledge to apply it to Intel's solutions, including improving drivers for Larrabee.
