When the problem with NVidia GeForce 8600 GT has been identified and made public, Apple announced that it will extend its warranty for the tow years following the purchase date. It has been extended by one additional year according to a message published in the knowledge base : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377?viewlocale=en_USThis of course, is limited to failure resulting from a defective GeForce 8600 GT. Last but not least, this warranty extension is without time limit in most EU countries, even though not publicly acknowledged by Apple, as the the problem affecting this NVidia GPU is considered as a hidden defect, implying that if customers had known about it at the time of purchase, they most probably would not have any notebook powered by such GPU.
