The official availability date of the AMD/ATI Radeon HD 4770 is today. This entry-level card should be priced less than 100 USD and is the first desktop GPU to be engraved at 40-nm. Beside power saving associated with its manufacturing process, leading to lower price, it should deliver an excellent performance/watt performance ratio. As expected, it will compete with the NVidia GeForce 9800 GT while draining 2x less power. When AMD/ATI will better manage such thin engraving process, we can expect this technology to be applied to other mid-range and high-high more complex GPU.
