We recently reported on the new 17-inch MacBook Pro computers having relatively dim displays, and provided a few suggestions including reinstalling the operating system. Now, Apple has released a knowledgebase article acknowledging this problem. It attributes the issue to its use of early builds of OS X (builds lower than 9G2141) on the new machines.
