Apple has begun selling an official 8GB RAM upgrade kit, designed for the latest 15-inch unibody MacBook Pro. The kit contains two 4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SO-DIMMs, and costs $1,200. It is only being offered for 2.66 and 2.93GHz MacBook Pros though, not the low-end 2.4GHz model. It is unknown if the RAM might be compatible with the previous mid-range, clocked at 2.53GHz.
