Toshiba to Temporary Close Down some Flash Memory Production Lines

For the first time since 2001, a chips manufacturer, Toshiba, decided to temporary close down some of its production site. Facing the massive drop of customers request, two production units over nine will be closed from December 27th till January 4th. This decision has been taken following the over-production faced by those manufacturers due to the economic slow down. So, closing a production line is cheaper than producing products that will not be sold, without margins, or even will cost money due to long storage. Other chips manufacturers seem to have officially or not slow down their production if not stopped some lines too. [translation by Linathael]
