Ross Video has released its SoftMetal 4.0 software, adding MXF native recording and playback support for HD and SD video clips, and QuickTime-native SD playout. It also adds closed-captioning support, embedded audio, and stereoscopic recording and playback. Version 4.0 additionally introduces capacity for 16 channels per video input/output. The upgrade is free for previous customers.
