The IEEE has endorsed a new WiFi standard, 802.11r. This new standard is specifically designed for IP telephony via WiFi as it allows devices to change access points without losing connectivity and with a tiny delay, around 50 ms.
Operators, such as Free or Neuf, should appreciate the arrival of this standard which will improve their offerings and ensure a higher quality of service where they are already densely deployed.
