As spotted by 91mobiles, a new iPad model identifier, ‘A2386’, has been registered on the Indian BIS certification database. It’s been a long time since new iPad model identifiers have been introduced as Apple last released a new iPad model almost eighteen months ago, the biggest gap ever between Apple tablet generations. (Update: A previous version of this article referred to two new model identifiers. As noted by Aaron Perris, one of these refers to a previously known iPad battery.)
The database unfortunately does not really reveal any other details about the new product, but they likely correspond to either the upcoming iPad Pro or iPad Air models. Bloomberg previously reported that Apple is readying new OLED iPad Pro and iPad Air models for an early May debut.
