GM really wants you to believe you’re better off without CarPlay
We’re coming up on two years since GM announced its decision to ditch CarPlay on all of its EVs. By all measures, the transition got off to an incredibly rocky start with its 2024 model year cars. The Chevy Blazer EV, for example, suffered from a series of problems courtesy of GM’s “Ultifi” infotainment system.
In a new interview this week, Baris Cetinok GM’s software vice president once again doubled down on the company’s move to abandon CarPlay.

macOS 15.2 lets users add a Weather widget to the Menu Bar
Apple on Monday released the second developer beta of iOS 18.2 and macOS Sequoia 15.2, both with additional Apple Intelligence features. However, the updates also bring some new features, and today’s beta lets Mac users add a Weather app widget to the macOS Menu Bar.

Apple launches new internal study focused on building smart glasses
After announcing Vision Pro last year, Apple has reportedly been exploring more ways to provide AR and VR content to users – and it seems that the idea of smart glasses is growing within the company. Apple Stops Signing iOS 18.0.1
Apple today stopped signing iOS 18.0.1, preventing iPhone users who have upgraded to iOS 18.1 from downgrading to iOS 18. Apple released iOS 18.1 a week ago on October 28.
It is not unusual for Apple to stop signing older versions of iOS shortly after a new version of iOS is released. When Apple stops signing an update, it can no longer be installed on an iPhone due to a server-side software verification check that happens before new software is installed, so those who have upgraded to the latest version of iOS 18 cannot downgrade to iOS 18.0.1.
Apple prevents downgrading to older versions of iOS to encourage iPhone users to keep their operating systems up to date with the latest security fixes.
The iOS 18.1 update added the first Apple Intelligence features, including Writing Tools, a new look for Siri, summaries and smart replies, and more. Apple CEO Tim Cook recently said that iPhone users are upgrading to iOS 18.1 twice as fast as iOS 17.1 during
