Someone apparently hacked 50 Cent’s accounts to peddle a memecoin and made off with millions
50 Cent and his millions of social media followers were reportedly the targets of a pump-and-dump crypto scam on Friday that resulted in hackers pocketing a good chunk of change before it was all shut down. The exact amount they made is unclear; the rapper initially wrote on Instagram that “whoever did this made $300,000,000 in 30 minutes” (per Cointelegraph), but the post has since been edited to say $3,000,000 as of this afternoon. I will not make a Get Rich or Die Tryin’ pun, I will not make a Get Rich or Die Tryin’ pun
The scammers used 50 Cent’s X account and website, Thisis50, to push $GUNIT. “My Twitter & Thisis 50.com was hacked I have no association with this Crypto,” 50 Cent wrote in an Instagram post containing screenshots of the unfolding mess. “Twitter worked quickly to lock my account back down,” he added. His X account and Thisis50.com still appear to be unavailable. Stay safe out there, and be wary of celebrities shilling crypto.

No Vision Pro 2? Apple, give us this one upgrade and call it a day
Apple has reportedly stopped development of the Vision Pro’s formal successor. Instead, the company is doubling down on releasing a more affordable, lighter-weight Vision product that is more enticing to the masses.
I’ve already written about why I think this is a good move, but the lack of a Vision Pro 2 could mean Apple finds themselves in an awkward position. What happens if the cheaper Vision device comes with more modern tech than its ‘Pro’ companion?
Here’s what Apple can do to upgrade the Vision Pro without needing to offer a true Vision Pro 2.

Apple is still looking for partners to bring Apple Intelligence to China
To bring Apple Intelligence to its second-largest smartphone market, Apple is going to have to sign deals with local providers, but so far has had no luck.Sales of the iPhone in China have fallen due to a lack of AI-driven features. When Apple announced the new AI-based technology at its June 2024 WWDC event, it noted that the rollout would take place over the remainder of 2024, and initially only be available in US English.Localization into other languages and conforming to regional legal requirements will be a challenge for Apple that is likely to delay international rollouts until early 2025. China, however, poses a unique set of regulatory hurdles. Continue Reading on AppleInsider | Discuss on our Forums

[KI-Lexikon] So funktioniert maschinelles Lernen (Machine Learning)

Apple Seeks AI Partner for Apple Intelligence in China
With iOS 18, Apple is working with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into the iPhone, where ChatGPT will work alongside Siri to handle requests for AI-generated content. ChatGPT and other similar AI services are not available in China, so Apple needs to find an alternative.
Apple is actively looking for a Chinese company to partner with for its AI features in China, reports The Wall Street Journal. Apple has held talks with Baidu, Alibaba Group, and Beijing startup Baichuan AI, but no deal has emerged.
Apple Intelligence features are going to be limited to an increasingly small number of customers when iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia launch this fall. Apple today said that it would not bring these features to countries in the European Union, and without a deal with a Chinese AI company, China could be out too.
China requires companies to get government approval before rolling out chatbots powered by large language models, and to date, has not approved any AI products that were developed
