Leading global energy firm shuns Apple for wider mobility strategy

Apple is trying to win more corporate business with new features in its recently launched iOS 7 mobile operating system, but one of the world's largest energy companies is still less than impressed with Apple's overall business focus.Brazil's state-owned Petrobras employs almost 90,000 employees globally and runs an ICT department with around 3,500 responsible for IT, networks and telecoms.At this week's SAP press innovation tour of Brazil, Petrobras said it wanted to widen its mobility strategy across the world, covering staff in offices and operating centres to those on oil rigs and in gas plants.When asked what mobile platforms it was starting to favour to boost mobility, Marcel Jose Kaskas, Petrobras IT software solutions general manager, told ComputerworldUK: "We currently use BlackBerry devices widely but have to also consider the wider take-up of other mobile operating systems."Android is important in terms of market share although its security is not as good as iOS.
