One easy step to writing better bug reports

As someone who uses a lot of different software and tends to find a lot of 'edge cases' I often find myself emailing software developers or filling out support tickets to either ask a question or report a problem. I know it would be helpful to include information about my Mac (both the hardware and the operating system) as well as precise information about the version of the software that I'm using. But, to be honest, I'm often too lazy to include it. Instead I tell them that I'm using the "latest version" of Mac OS X and the "latest version" of their software. But am I?
