Drive maker LaCie has announced a free update for its d2 Network 2, 2big Network 2 and 5big Network 2 network-attached storage (NAS) external drives that work with Mac OS X (10.5 and higher) and Windows (XP or 7). The update, billed as "NAS OS 2" actually brings the operating system to v2.2 and adds new features such as NAS-to-NAS direct backup (either locally or via the Internet), and easier remote access from a browser or iOS app.
