Google's User Experience director Matias Duarte in a panel on Friday justified the look of Android apps. When grilled on why iOS apps tend to be more visually appealing, he took the view that the looks were largely even. He admitted to those at TechCrunch's Mobile First CrunchUp that Android was younger but that, by nature, his job had him see many Android apps that were "very nice-looking."
