Apple, HTC, Samsung win in smartphone share, Nokia tumbles

New market share data from IDC has cemented the view that Android and the iPhone have been rapidly draining the share of Nokia and RIM. Android phone makers HTC and Samsung doubled and tripled their fall market share respectively in the past year to get 8.5 percent and 9.6 percent of the market. Apple's share was even at 16.1 percent, but it was enough to move the iPhone up to second place in smartphones.
