Somewhere between a message to multiple people in one's address book and uncaring spammers, there is the company or person who has the need to e-mail a large number of contacts who have specifically requested to be contacted and opted-in for announcements or newsletters, be it a political campaign, a charity, or a community or business organization. Two programs that assist Mac users in the goal of creating worthwhile, personalized mass e-mail have both been updated recently: Mailings and MailShoot -- each very different, but both reaching version 2.0.
