Amazon bows to Macmillan's iPad-inspired eBook prices moves

The short battle between Amazon and Macmillan over future eBook pricing has finished fast, with the publisher claiming victory. The iPad/Apple iBook-fueled event began last week, when Macmillan CEO John Sargent confirmed Amazon kicked titles off of its catalogue in response to a demand to renegotiate pricing structures to match Apple’s new eBook offerings. Amazon has since chosen to capitulate its position, saying, “Ultimately we will have to capitulate and accept Macmillan's terms because Macmillan has a monopoly over their own titles, and we will want to offer them to you even at prices we believe are needlessly high for e-books."
