Towards New Velociraptor Models

If we are often reporting about SSD and their performance and rapid evolution, it will still take years before SSDs reach price/GB close enough to disc-based HD to really compete on all segments of this market.According to different sources, Western Digital is working on its high-end disc-based HD, aka Velociraptor:  The new models should offer twice the current storage space to reach up to 600 MB. In order to further improve performance, the cache will now be of 64 MB. If on the performance wise, the velociraptor can not compete with the fastest SSD, its 10,000 rpm rotation speed, 600 GB storage space, and a lower price tag when compared to current 256 GB SSDs, it should offer a relatively long lifetime to the forthcoming Velociraptor.
