iPhone in USA: Towards the End of the Unlimited Internet Access?

We have already been reporting several times about difficulties faced by AT&T, from the iPhone launch date till today, to offer a reliable and high level service to its iPhone owners customers. Indeed, the success of the iPhone quickly compromised the network infrastructure of AT&T and pushed the company to invest in larger and faster network. Today, AT&T can simply not upgrade its network as fast as the growing curve of iPhone owners. One solution to better control the high level of data transfer traffic would be to stop the "unlimited data access" from the iPhone. A representative announced that the company will indeed charge on data access. Currently, there are no further details, but the goal is simple, prevent some users of abusing of such service. All subscription plans signed prior the revision should not be affected, but will most likely evolved towards the new conditions at the anniversary date (usually 2 years).
