Smartphone wars: WinMob down 28%, iPhone growing growing grows

Apple remains ascendant in the smartphone wars, the latest Gartner figures show, with Microsoft’s Windows Mobile shedding 28 per cent marketshare inside a year. The latest data shows Microsoft’s grip on the mobile market continuing to shrink falling form 11 percent in Q3 2008 to 7.9 percent in Q3 2009. Apple, meanwhile, continues to generate interest, with a marketshare climbing from 12.9 to 17.1 percent in the same period of time.Research In Motion also fared well, climbing from 16 to 20.8 percent. Symbian fell from 49.7 percent to 44.6 percent and Android - which hasn’t fully impacted on the market yet, achieved 3.9 percent.Looks like, in mobile at least, Microsoft continues losing relevance.
