In unserem Forum wurden wir um ein Gamplay-Video zum Spiel gebeten. Dem möchten wir nachkommen. Assassin’s Creed Pirates (App Store-Link) hatten wir euch schon ausführlich am 5. The Elder Scrolls Online wages war on April 14, 2014
If you're a devoted Mac gamer, you may sometimes feel like you're missing out, especially when all the big MMOs and shooters launch on Windows machines months before OS X -- if they ever release on Mac at all. Publisher Bethesda Softworks, for one, isn't cool with that, so they're launching the Mac edition of the highly anticipated Elder Scrolls MMO on the same day that all those hoity-toity Windows gamers will be getting their version. That day is April 4, 2014.
The game has been in a closed beta phase for a short while already, but the company clearly has some more work to do before it's ready for public consumption. The game will be launching at a later date for home consoles.

Steam Machines gehen am 13. Dezember an die Tester
Valve gab heute bekannt: Steam Machines sowie die dazugehörigen Controller werden am 13. Dezember an 300 Tester ausgeliefert. Der Kreis der Tester ist auf die USA begrenzt, obwohl ursprünglich Teilnehmer weltweit gesucht wurden. In der Community herrscht Unmut über diesen Umstand, der zudem von Valve nicht genügend erklärt wird.

TUAW TV Live: 'Twas two weeks before Christmas...
and all through the internet, not a creature was stirring, not even a podcast host.
Well, enough of the attempt to try to update Clement Clarke Moore's classic poem for the 21st century; it's time for another TUAW TV Live. I believe that this will be a solo run today, as the good Doctor Rock has been spending time with his relatives in the eastern US this last week. But hey, I did this show without a handsome cohost for a couple of years, so I'm sure I can probably wing it!

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas begins assaulting citizens tomorrow
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will be following the path of its predecessor and makes the leap to iOS devices on December 12. The game, which is widely considered to be one of the best of the Grand Theft Auto series, has been revamped for its iOS debut and comes complete with higher-resolution graphics, cloud saved support, and custom playlist support.
San Andreas will also be one of the first big releases to support the iOS controller framework at launch, which is great since the open world nature of the GTA series makes fiddling with virtual touchscreen buttons a bit of a hassle. The game will set you back $9.99 when it launches tomorrow.

Southwest Airlines offers iOS users $2 iMessaging
Southwest Airlines just announced a new deal for iOS users. Instead of ponying up $8 for all day in-flight WiFi, people with iPads or iPhones can get all day iMessaging for $2.
According to the airline "any Apple user that has iOS 5 or later with the iMessage feature pre-loaded on their device can take advantage of this option. Now you can stay powered up and connected to friends and family like you never left the ground."
This is a pretty clever idea that will please a lot of holiday travelers who might want to keep in touch with family and friends while they are in the air, or update them on those frequent late arrivals. It's only a quarter the cost of full WiFi, so it might be a pretty popul

Stonestown Galleria Apple retail store grand re-opening set for December 14th
Apple's Stonestown Galleria Apple Retail Store in San Francisco is about to reopen following a massive transformation, reports ifo Apple Store. Previously, the Apple Store in one of San Francisco's most popular malls was one of the narrowest Apple retail stores out there, measuring just 25 feet wide. iColorama is a photo colorizing app on steroids. It has a vast array of features, from basic editing like saturation, cropping and editing, to all kinds of color and distortion effects.

Southwest Airlines is offering passengers the ability to send and receive iMessages from their iOS devices in-flight for $2 per day. In-flight Wi-Fi access for all applications is available for $8 per device per day. It's likely that the airline is opening up iMessage related ports to users who pay the $2, while users who pay more receive access to in-flight email, social networks and the like. As someone who has gone through the fun of self-publishing e-books for use on everything from the Amazon Kindle to Apple's iBooks, I know what a pain in the neck it can be to get everything formatted and set up properly for publishing. Here we share eight tips for using Multiple Displays in OS X Mavericks including viewing the dock and menu on two displays and using your Apple TV to send a second Mac screen to your TV. AT&T CEO: We can't afford to subsidize smartphones indefinitely
Consumers love being able to upgrade their smartphones every two years with affordable, subsidized pricing. US$199 for a brand new iPhone? Sure, sign me up. Some carriers like Sprint even offer early upgrades after 18 months, all in an effort to keep subscriber churn to a minimum.
It's now been over six years since the iPhone first launched and AT&T these days isn't keen on subsidizing iPhones, and smartphones in general, indefinitely.

Trying to catch a cab in London can be a challenging feat. That's why I've started testing out the Hailo app. Instead of standing around for 20 minutes I had a black cab respond to my e-hail via the Hailo app. It arrived five minutes after I told the app I wanted to be picked up. It's also why Hailo is today's Daily iPhone App.

Apple TV gets ABC, Bloomberg, Crackle, and KORTV channels
It's another month and another update for channels on the Apple TV. Today the company quietly four more channels to its media streaming box including ABC, Bloomberg, Crackle, and KORTV.
American readers will be familiar with ABC. The new "Watch ABC" channel on the Apple TV allows users to view content from their local ABC affiliate. The Bloomberg channel is a portal into media from the Bloomberg news and financial empire, including the Charlie Rose show. Crackle is a media streaming service like Netflix that offers up free and pay-per-view movies. Finally, KORTV is a Korean television channel that offers videos on demand.
There's no software update required to get the new channels, they should just appear. If you don't see them, simply restart your Apple TV

Apple ranks 35th in Glassdoor's 'Best Places to Work 2014' survey
Glassdoor has announced the results of its sixth annual Employees' Choice Awards that ranks the best places to work in America. The rankings are chosen by the employees who work at the companies and the awards are divided into two categories: large and medium-sized companies. Apple of course fits into the large-company category and this year it ranked number 35 out of the 50 best places to work. That's a drop of one place from last year's ranking.

Chatting on your iPhone while behind the wheel can get you into some serious trouble (not to mention an accident, so DON'T DO IT), but comedian Randy Liedtke thinks he's found a way to have some fun with the laws against such practices. Posting on his Tumblr account, Liedtke shows off a batch of new "iPhone cookies" he prepared for the express purpose of fooling cops into thinking he's talking on his smartphone while driving.

Das US-Patentamt hat Apple in dieser Woche ein neues Patent zugesprochen, das eine effizientere Technologie beschreibt, um gekrümmte Sensoren herstellen zu können. Die von Apple patentierte Technologie mit dem Titel «Curved touch sensor» erlaubt es dem Unternehmen, einen gekrümmten Touch-Sensor herzustellen, ohne die im Sensor verbaute Technik zu beschädigen.
Um Strukturveränderungen bei den verwendeten Komponenten zu verhindern, wird gemäss der Patentschrift in einem ersten Schritt der Halbleiter auf einem flexiblen Trägermaterial aufgetragen. In einem zweiten Schritt werden die beiden Komponenten auf eine gekrümmte Form gelegt und dabei erhitzt. Mit Hilfe dieser Technologie sollen Touch-Sensoren entstehen, bei welchen der Abstand zwischen den Sensor-Komponenten und der Oberfläche immer gleich ist. Die Telekom will laut Pressemeldung den Abhörschutz im Mobilfunk verbesseren. Seit den Enthüllungen über die Abhörmethoden des US-Amerikanischen Geheimdienstes “NSA” prangern Datenschützer weltweit die Zustände für betroffene Bürger an. Die Telekom implementiert nun einen neuen Mobilfunk-Standard, der dabei helfen soll, Telefongespräche abhörsicher zu gestalten. Neuer Verschlüsselungsstandard im GSM-Netz Bisher hinkte die Sicherheit im GSM-Netz gegenüber Mobilfunk-Standards wie UMTS oder LTE hinterher. Neue Version von Google Drive soll Ordnung schaffen

Analyst Gene Munster und sein Team bei «Piper Jaffray» haben die Ergebnisse einer Testreihe veröffentlicht, in der die Genauigkeit der Sprachassistenten Siri und Google Now verglichen worden ist.
Googles Sprachassistent lag im Rahmen der ersten Erhebung im Dezember 2012 weit hinter Siri zurück. Die aktuelle Testreihe von Piper Jaffray zeigte nun, dass Google innerhalb eines Jahres fast zu Apple aufschliessen konnte. Die Genauigkeit der beiden Sprachassistenten unterschied sich im Test vom Dezember 2013 nur noch in geringem Umfang.
Gemäss den Analysten ist Siri in den USA in 79 Prozent der Fälle in der Lage, auf die gestellten Fragen zu antworten. Die korrekt verstandenen Fragen werden gemäss der Studie in 83 Prozent der Fälle fehlerfrei beantwortet. Das Bild oben, Ende letzten Monats von evleaks gepostet, soll das vermutete Nokia Normandy zeigen, zu dem The Verge jetzt ein paar weitere Informationen zusammengetragen haben. Demnach soll das Einsteiger-Smartphone es tatsächlich unter Android laufen und 2014 kommen, was sich erstmal seltsam anhört, denn schliesslich wird Nokia ja gerade in Microsoft integriert. Twitter-App erhält umfassendes Update
Am Dienstag erhielt die App Twitter für iOS ein umfassendes Update. In der Version 6.0 des Programms haben die Entwickler unter anderem das Design verändert. Zudem können ab sofort Bilder mittels Direktnachrichten übertragen und empfangen werden. Ebenfalls optimiert wurde die Suchfunktion.

Tablets remain tops in American gift-buying plans

AT&T CEO: Carriers Can't Afford Big Subsidies for Devices Any Longer
Wireless carriers like AT&T and Verizon will not be able to continue the smartphone subsidy model that has driven widespread smartphone penetration to this point. AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson, speaking at an investor conference today, said the current model is not economically viable, reported CNET. Scott Forstalls Leben nach Apple
Apples ehemaliger Vice President Scott Forstall hat sich nach seinem Abgang als iOS-Chef im Oktober 2012 komplett aus der Öffentlichkeit zurückgezogen. Das Magazin «The Information» will nun Informationen erhalten haben, wie der ehemalige Apple-Manager die letzten 13 Monaten genutzt hat.
Gemäss den vom Magazin recherchierten Informationen hat Scott Forstall in diesem Jahr diverse Startups beraten. Während einige dieser Startups bereits am Markt aktiv sind, befinden sich andere Unternehmen noch in der Entwicklungsphase. Das Magazin hat allerdings keines der beteiligten Unternehmen beim Namen genannt. Forstall soll bei seiner Beratertätigkeit nicht nur mit den Startups, sondern auch mit deren Geldgebern zusammenarbeiten. T-Mobile eliminates down payments on some iPhone models for the holidays
T-Mobile has just announced that it is eliminating the down payment required on entry-level iPhones starting on December 11. The limited-time offer will include the 16 GB models of the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c. Customers will be able to buy both devices for US$0 down and 24 monthly payments of $27, with no annual service contract.
The move is a good one for T-Mobile going into the holiday season -- and it's also a great one for buyers looking to save some money on Apple's latest devices. Larger Stonestown Apple Retail Store Opening in San Francisco on Saturday [Mac Blog]

Coursera debuted its iPhone app on Tuesday, bringing more than 500 free courses to mobile devices for the first time. Coursera is an up-and-coming online learning platform known for its MOOCs (Massive Open Online Course). These courses are open to thousands of students at once and foster collaboration between students through peer-graded assignments and other interactive tools.
Coursera offers courses for free in a variety of disciplines that cover everything from the arts to engineering. Square yesterday unveiled its next-gen credit card reader, set to be released in 2014. The new design is super thin, with the peripheral's thickness being slashed by an impressive 45%.
As it turns out, there's a strong Apple connection to the new, super svelte Square reader. Shrinking down a device that's already quite thin is no small feat. It requires an incredible amount of engineering acumen, a complete re-thinking of the original design, and in Square's case, even custom designing some of the device's components. Zweifel an Streaming-Abmahnungen
Bei den Streaming-Abmahnungen gegen Nutzer des Porno-Portals RedTube handelt es sich offenbar um eine Abmahnwelle, die mehr als 10.000 Personen betreffen könnte. Allerdings bestehen mittlerweile erhebliche Zweifel, ob die Abmahnungen überhaupt rechtmäßig sind.
