iPhone-Telefonate einfach auf den Mac holenAb sofort werde ich hier wieder regelmässig neue, interessante Apps für Mac und iOS vorstellen. Den Anfang macht Dialogue - ein kleines Programm, mit dem sich iPhone-Anrufe auf dem Mac annehmen, starten und auch aufzeichnen* lassen. In einem ersten Test schlägt sich die Anwendung ganz passabel.

DevJuice: Record UIViews with Glimpse
Glimpse offers an open source library from iOS Developer Wess Cope. It enables you to create QuickTime videos from your UIViews. The library records animations and actions, collecting screen shots over time, building a movie from the results.
The API consists of two calls: one to start recording, one to stop. An optional completion block processes a file URL after wrapping up the recording.
The project is surprisingly simple. It consists basically of an AV Foundation asset writer (for creating the QT movies) and a wrapper. There's no reason you couldn't use Glimpse for store deployment, for recording gameplay or similar tasks as well.

Apple A7: Samsung an Entwicklung beteiligt
Der Quellcode von Apple iOS 7 hat nicht nur einen Hinweis auf das iPad mini 2 und ein fehlendes Retina-Display geliefert, sondern auch darauf, dass Samsung an der Entwicklung des A7-Chips beteiligt ist. Ein findiger Entwickler hat ans Tageslicht gebracht, dass Samsung zumindest einen Teil der Apple-A7-Entwicklung übernimmt bzw. für die Produktion verantwortlich zeichnet – in welchem Umfang dies der Fall ist, lässt sich aber nicht sagen. Die Hauptplatine des Chips soll definitiv von Samsung stammen, weiterhin wird die Steuerung zur Stromversorgung des Displays ebenfalls von Samsung erwartet. iOS 7: 3D-Maps lässt Nokia und Google im Regen stehen
Innerhalb von iOS 7 haben sich bereits einige interessante Aspekte und Hinweise finden lassen, unter anderem ließen sich Screenshots finden, die die 3D-Funktion von Apple Maps zeigen. In einem Kommentar bei “AppleInsider” wurde ein Vergleich zwischen der 3D-Funktion von Apple Maps, Google Maps und Nokia Maps angestrebt, der (Stand heute) aufzeigt, dass Apple in diesem Punkt die Nase eindeutig vorne hat. Seventh OS X 10.8.5 beta seeds to developers
Apple is seeding a seventh beta of OS X 10.8.5 to developers. The code, listed as build 12F30, continues a weekly beta update cycle. Apple lists no known issues, and is still asking developers to focus testing on Wi-Fi, graphics, wake-from-sleep functions, PDF viewing and accessibility, and finally mobile device management.

Apple mit 53 % der Smartphone-Gewinne, Samsung knapp dahinter
Laut des Marktanalysten Michael Walkley bleibt Apple weiterhin der Smartphone-Hersteller, der die meisten Gewinne einfährt, nämlich insgesamt 53 Prozent der gesamten Gewinne im Smartphone-Segment. Diese Daten stammen aus dem zweiten Quartal dieses Jahres, im ersten Quartal 2013 lag der Apple-Anteil der Smartphone-Gewinne bei 57 Prozent, im zweiten Quartal des vergangenen Jahres war der Anteil sogar bei 69 Prozent gelegen. The Apple "ground truth" mapping team is out there...
The classic sci-fi series "The X-Files" was based on the premise that "the truth is out there," and nowhere is that saying more true than in data for mapping systems. It takes a team of experts, known as "ground truth local experts," to make sure that what shows up on digital maps is what actually exists in reality. Adobe posts Lightroom 5.2, Camera Raw 8.2 release candidates
Adobe has posted release candidate versions of two forthcoming software updates, Lightroom 5.2 and Photoshop Camera Raw 8.2. The patches are said to fix several problems with Lightroom 5 and Camera Raw 8.1, including issues with Spot Healing and Local Adjustment brushes, as well as noise reduction tools. RAW support has meanwhile been extended to a variety of new cameras, such as the Canon EOS 70D, Fujifilm X-M1, and Sony DSC-RX1R.

Apple Seeds OS X 10.8.5 Build 12F30 to Developers [Mac Blog]
Apple today seeded build 12F30 of OS X 10.8.5 to developers, marking the seventh beta iteration of 10.8.5. The release comes exactly one week after the previous OS X 10.8.5 beta, build 12F26. As with previous betas, the update contains no known issues and can be downloaded via Apple's Developer page or through the software update tool of the Mac App Store. It is also available to AppleSeed members with a new version of Safari. Apple's OS X 10.8.5 beta is being tested along side the next version of the operating system, OS X Mavericks. Apple has thus far seeded four developer previews of Mavericks and plans to offer the new operating system to the public in the fall.

Tim Cook meets with China Mobile chairman
Apple CEO Tim Cook reportedly met with China Mobile Chairman Xi Guohua on Tuesday to "discuss matters of cooperation," according to Reuters. The meeting is thought to be a step towards the Chinese wireless carrier offering the iPhone to its customers, though no official statement was released regarding an agreement.
With over 700 million customers and the title of the largest wireless operator in the world (by subscribers), a deal to offer the iPhone would be a huge win for both the state-owned China Mobile as well as Apple. Google reportedly testing 'hyper-local' news card for Now
According to a report from Quartz, Google is preparing to launch an improved local news card in Now. The card would be an extension of its existing local news offerings, but would bring those stories directly to your handset based on your location. Quartz confirmed the card's existence through Johanna Wright, the vice president of search and assist at Google. She described the card as be "hyper-local," with granularity down to individual neighborhoods. According to Wright, the card is only being tested internally right now, and there's no guarantee of when, or even if, Google will actually bring it to the public.

iOS 7 code may hint at Retina-less, A6-equipped iPad mini
Apple has been testing an iPad mini upgraded to an A6 processor, but lacking a Retina display, code in the latest iOS 7 beta suggests. Three new Mini models are included in the list of supported devices: "iPad 2,8," "iPad 2,9," and "iPad 2,10," with respective codenames of J75, J76, and J77. The current Minis are the 2,5, 2,6, and 2,7, split between one Wi-Fi and two 3G/4G models.

Report on Pegatron abuses makes references to low-cost iPhone
A China Labor Watch report on labor and safety violations at Pegatron may have also inadvertently confirmed the existence of the low-cost iPhone, possibly known as the iPhone 5C. In the introduction to the report, one quote says that Pegatron's products include the iPhone 4, 4S, and 5, as well as "low-priced plastic iPhones." Microsoft, Intel, other tech companies rally against ITC product bans
The BSA -- a group representing technology companies like Oracle, Intel, and Microsoft -- has taken a position against banning products based on infringements of standards-essential patents, a Wall Street Journal article notes. The move appears to have been spurred by a possible ITC ban of some older AT&T-model iPhones and iPads. Samsung scored the ruling in a complaint against Apple.

Just three more iOS 7 betas left, source claims
Apple is planning to release just three more betas of iOS 7 before the gold master version debuts in early September, a BGR source claims. Several sources suggest that beta 4 will go live later today, now that the Developer Center has been fully restored. The code is expected to contain bugfixes, graphical and UI enhancements, and "a couple of other updates," according to BGR.

Source backs 'iPhone 5C' name for low-cost iPhone
The first low-cost iPhone will indeed be called the iPhone 5C, a source tells Business Insider. Over the weekend, a photo of product packages for a supposed iPhone 5C appeared on WeiPhone. The BI source, though, is allegedly connected to someone inside Apple who confirmed the name. Despite the indirect nature of the rumor, BI says it's "confident" about its assertion.

USPTO issues 'final' rejection of Apple's pinch-to-zoom patent
The US Patent and Trademark Office has reportedly moved to finalize its rejection of Apple's pinch-to-zoom patent, which has been asserted in several high-profile lawsuits. Working to gain an advantage in its first of several lawsuits with Apple, Samsung is said to have notified the court of the agency's decision to reject all claims of the patent (No. 7,844,915) that describes APIs for scrolling operations.

Briefly: Shazam gains improved recommendations, ArtSuite reaches v10
Shazam has released an updated version of its iOS music recognition app, featuring improved recommendations and music previews. Users will now receive recommendations for music based on what others have purchased, and music previews are now available for more songs including items in the Pulse charts. First iTunes 11.1 beta adds iTunes Radio support [u]
(Updated with Apple TV 5.4 seed 3) In tandem with iOS 7 beta 4, Apple has also started seeding beta 1 of iTunes 11.1, reports say. Mac mini shipping returns to 24 hours at online Apple store
Following reports last week of the Mac mini's availability tightening to one-week shipping, all stocked models on the Apple online store show configurations available shipping normally, "within 24 hours." At no point during the time that shipping availability was 5-7 days was the machine generally not available at Apple retail for pickup.

iOS 7 beta 4 may confirm plans for fingerprint sensors in fall gear
Code buried in iOS 7 beta 4 suggests that one or more next-generation iOS devices will indeed have fingerprint sensors, notes AppleInsider. An unused folder in the firmware, discovered by Hamza Sood, is titled "BiometricKitUI.axb." Accompanying code strings moreover make reference to a "Photo of a person holding an iPhone with their right hand while touching the Home button with their thumb," a percentage completion meter for fingerprint recognition, and "a fingerprint that changes colour [sic] during the setup process."

Mansfield switch-up a question of avoiding distractions, source says
Bob Mansfield's departure from the Apple executive team was made at his request so he could focus on new products, without being distracted by work on the executive committee, an anonymous source tells Bloomberg. Apple retail employees file class-action lawsuit over security
A group of former retail employees of Apple Stores in Los Angeles and New York have filed a class-action suit against Apple, saying that the company demands employees submit to extensive anti-theft searches and other security measures, but doesn't pay them for the time involved. The security checks, which happen whenever an employee leaves the store, take 10 or 15 minutes according to the claim filed, adding up to millions of dollars in uncompensated employee time -- possibly as much as $1,400 per employee per year.

ASCAP to FCC: deny Pandora's radio station buy
The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) has filed a formal protest with the US Federal Communications Commission, opposing streaming radio purveyor Pandora's attempted purchase of a radio station in Rapid City, South Dakota. ASCAP is opposing the deal on procedural grounds, saying that Pandora failed to properly reveal its international interests involved in the company, and in not doing so, isn't properly proving that it does not exceed foreign ownership rules set by the FCC.

Chinese Apple store Genius Bar appointment scalping rampant
Reports from inside China reveal a series of profiteers completely booking the Shangai Apple store's Genius Bar reservations, and then selling the reservations online. The scalpers are selling the appointments for 10 yuan ($1.60), and providing login information after sale, allowing the purchasers to modify the appointment to their needs. Most appointments are booked solid when the reservation system opens at 4AM local time.

Examinations reveal many more changes in iOS 7 beta 4
Beyond the discovery earlier today of biometric and fingerprint-sensor data buried inside the latest beta of iOS 7, researchers examining the new update have found lots of other tweaks and refinements -- everything from the return of Apple TV iTunes music buying to a subtle shift in gradient on the Mail icon, and much more. The evolution of iOS 7 reinforces early comments from veteran developers that every design element in the first beta that was publicly demonstrated at the Worldwide Developer's Conference wasn't set in stone, and that the update would evolve.

Starbucks expanding pilot wireless charging program to Silicon Valley
Duracell Powermat today announced the availability of wireless charging stations in select Starbucks stores in the Silicon Valley area. The expansion of the wireless charging evaluation follows a successful test of the technology in a handful of Boston-area Starbucks locations. The stations are compatible with any PMA (Power Matters Alliance) certified devices.

Apple updates Xcode 5, OS X Server, Remote Desktop
In addition to the iOS 7, Apple TV and iTunes 11.1 betas issued earlier today, Apple has also updated the forthcoming Xcode 5, OS X Server and Remote Desktop betas for developers. The Xcode update (Developer Preview 4) fixes a number of crashing bugs and polishes up the interface, with OS X Server update (also at Developer Preview 4) offering much the same in the way of changes. Apple Remote Desktop 3.7 was also updated, but with no reported changes apart from a lack of any known major issues.

Report: iOS market share still growing in US, UK, France
While Apple's iPhone sales are softly declining as customers wait for an expected September release of new models, a new study by Kantar Worldpanel shows that the marketshare for the company's mobile platform is still growing in a number of key markets, most importantly the United States. Based in part on the strength of the older iPhones with new smartphone buyers, Apple is also seeing growth in marketshare in the UK and France -- taking share away from both Android and BlackBerry, even as Windows Phone begins to gain a foothold.

Sprint achieves $7.2B in revenues, $1.6B loss in quarterly report
Sprint has recorded high revenues in its latest quarterly results, though it is not plain sailing for the carrier. While it has achieved $7.2 billion in earnings for the period, an increase of eight percent compared to last year and a minor drop compared to the $8.8 billion in the previous quarter, it still managed to make a loss overall.

New images, specifications for Lumix GX7 leak, claim 16MP sensor

Sprint rolls out 4G LTE to 41 new markets, brings total to 151
Sprint has expanded the reach of its 4G LTE service into a number of new markets, following on from adding coverage to parts of New York City and revealing its 20,000 Network Vision sites achievement as part of its quarterly report. The extra 41 new markets across the US brings the total Sprint footprint of LTE to 151 markets.

Apple CEO Tim Cook visited China earlier this week and met with officials from China Telecom, a local report says. The intention of the meeting is unknown, although Cook was likely discussing the impending launch of one or more new iPhone models. Apple, Motorola drop 14 patents from Florida lawsuit
Apple and Google-owned Motorola have agreed to drop a combined 14 patents from their Florida lawsuit, narrowing the involved patents to just four for each side. Motorola tossed eight, while Apple did away with six. The motion must still be approved by the District Court for the Southern District of Florida, but is in keeping with pressure from judge Robert Scola to scale back the case.

iOS-like Control Center app pulled from Google Play at Apple request
Google has pulled the original version of an Android app called Control Center from Google Play, following a copyright claim by Apple. The app is a free download, and mimics the style of its namesake feature in iOS 7. A message from Google, forwarded by developer Hi Tools Studio, explains that "Apple owns the copyright in its iOS software and each of the features thereof. The aforementioned application infringes Apple Inc.ís ('Apple') copyright rights in the iOS 7 software."

Apple is issuing notices to developers, warning them that it may take time to review their apps for the App Store, reports say. Briefly: Netflix user profiles on Apple TV, Showtime app gains live TV
MacRumors has reported that the Netflix personalized profile feature has started rolling out to some Apple TV users in a limited capacity. Planned for a full release in August, Netflix user profiles let subscribers create personal viewing accounts complete with customizable avatars and individualized viewing histories. The rollout is currently limited to customers who set up a profile when using the DVD service, but at this time does not include support for altering profiles or adding new users.

Kindle iOS app gets sample search, custom dictionary support
Amazon has updated the iOS version of its Kindle e-reading app to v3.9. Via the app's Library Search, users should now be able to search through Amazon's catalog of free book samples and download the content straight to a device. Amazon doesn't allow direct purchases of books in iOS however, as Apple claims a 30 percent cut of all in-app transactions. Instead titles must be bought via the web, the Kindle hardware, or one of the other Kindle apps for platforms like Android and Windows Phone.

Job listings hint at broader language support for iOS input
Apple is looking to further improve the language support in iOS, new job listings suggest. The software already supports over 50 language options, including ones that require handwriting recognition, like non-Pinyin Chinese. The listings call for more engineers on the iOS keyboard and text team -- as well as the UIKit Frameworks team -- in order to "work closely with international teams and native speakers to accommodate all the worldís script systems."

Facebook planning to sell 15-second video ads, sources say
Facebook is planning to start selling 15-second video ads to marketers, sources tell Bloomberg. The clips would be inserted directly into a person's news feed, and at least initially sold on a full-day day basis, with targeting based solely on a person's age and gender. A video would show no more than three times per person, per day, and cost marketers between $1 million and $2.5 million each day.

Apple tweaks Final Cut Pro X with minor update, fixes bug
Final Cut Pro X users who rely on Sony XAVC media will have a reason to smile at today's minor update to FCP. The new version, 10.0.9, corrects issues resulting in green artifacts with that particular media, and also fixes several issues related to interlaced media and re-timed segments that could cause exports to fail. The update is the first since March, when version 10.0.8 introduced support for the XAVC 4K codec. The 10.0.9 update is also said to contain the usual stability improvements. An update to Apple's ProApps QuickTime Codecs could be coming as well.

Apple opening new Italian store this weekend in Rimini
This weekend, Apple will be opening a new store in Italy, in the seaside resort town of Rimini. The new store, the country's 13th, will reside in the Le Befane mall alongside 130 other retail stores, on the second floor atop a retail store called Marco Polo. The mall is said to be one of the largest in the entire country. The new store is said to be part of Apple's push to emphasize the iPhone, but will also feature other Apple products as other stores do. This is the first Apple Store in this general area, a popular resort town originally founded in 268 BC.

Google claim on Nexus 7 versus iPad popularity seen as false
Advertising giant Google has been revealed to have deliberately used a flawed study in an effort to make its Nexus 7 tablet look more popular. During the launch of the latest Nexus 7, a Google executive showed figures that "proved" that the Nexus 7 was the most popular tablet in Japan, outselling the iPad. This has now been debunked with the revelation that the study by Japanese market research firm BCN did not include iPad sales from any of Japan's seven Apple Stores, its two largest telecom partners, or Apple's direct online channel.

AAPL tops $450 for first time since mid-May
Though both the S&P and Dow Jones averages rose little on Tuesday, Apple stock rose 1.2 percent to close at $453.32 -- the first time the stock has closed over $450 since mid-May, and on the heels of the revelation that Apple CEO Tim Cook is again in China, talking to current partners and possibly trying to break the logjam that has kept the iPhone out of China's largest carrier, China Mobile. More developer resources now back online, augmenting Dev Center
Following a hacking attack that revealed some potentially serious vulnerabilities, Apple's Dev Center and its associated resources are mostly back online following a week-long outage, with five more areas coming online late Tuesday. Four of the 15 sites and sub-sections for devlopers remain offline -- Xcode automatic configuration, the Member Center, Program Enrolment and Renewals and Technical Support -- but the Videos library, all pre-release documentation, the App Store Resource Center and the Apple Developer Forums are now available.

Isis mobile payments to roll out nationwide, including iPhone support
Mobile phone-based payment service Isis has announced plans for a nationwide US rollout, including support for the iPhone. The service -- backed by AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon -- is currently only in testing at around 4,000 sites split between Austin and Salt Lake City. Google has announced that it will no longer be supporting the Google Catalogs iOS and Android apps as of August 15. Yesterday, users of the app began receiving in-app notifications alerting them of the imminent shut down. Apple promotes tax-free shopping days
Apple on Monday began reminding folks that a number of states are holding sales tax holidays beginning on August 2nd. As the name implies, sales tax holidays enable consumers to purchase certain types of items and forgo having to pay sales tax. Come early August, 10 different states will hold sales tax holidays for varying lengths of time wherein certain Apple products will qualify..
The states where deals can be had include Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico, Massachusetts, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Google Play Downloads Passed App Store Downloads For the First Time in Q2
In a new report, App Annie today revealed that downloads from Google Play finally surpassed iOS App Store downloads by 10% during the second quarter of 2013. The uptick in Google Play downloads can be attributed to higher activity in emerging markets, such as Russia, India, and Brazil. Of course, despite the fact that Google Play garnered more downloads during the quarter, the App Store still earns far more revenue, reinforcing the idea that iOS users are more willing to pay for content than their Android counterparts. Though Apple likes to refer to the Apple TV as nothing more than a "hobby," the device continues to sell extremely well. To date, Apple has sold well over 13 million Apple TV units with about half of those sales occurring in 2013.
Today, Apple made the Apple TV just a tad more affordable, lowering the price on a refurbished model down to $75. Previously, a refurbished Apple TV would have cost you $85. With a fresh Apple TV running at $99, you can now get your hands on an Apple TV for 25% off.

Apple Drops the Price on Refurbished Apple TV to $75
Following the launch of Google's low-priced Chromecast AirPlay competitor, Apple has lowered the price of its refurbished Apple TVs to $75, offering a $24 discount off of the original $99 price and a $10 drop from the previous price for refurbished units. Google's Chromecast, which functions similarly to AirPlay and allows users to mirror content from a tablet, smartphone, or laptop to a television, retails for just $35. When three of the big four mobile carriers -- AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile US, and Verizon Wireless -- agree on something, you know that it's going to get a big push. The three companies formed Isis in early 2011 to orchestrate the future of near field communication (NFC) payments, and today the joint venture announced that the Isis Mobile Wallet system will be rolled out nationwide later this year.
Isis Mobile Wallet users need an NFC-enabled smartphone and a SIM-based secure element to be considered "Isis Ready." Updated Kindle app for iOS skirts around Apple's 30% cut with new "free sample search"
The Next Web reports that a recent update to the Kindle app for iOS is able to skirt around one of the App Store's long standing restrictions, namely that any content discovered and purchased via an iOS app is subject to Apple's 30% take.
That restriction is why the current Kindle for iOS app redirects users to Amazon's website to purchase books rather than integrating it into the iOS app itself.
While Apple hasn't eased up on its restriction, the new Kindle app offers a roundabout way for Amazon to sell books without having to hand over 30% of the proceeds to Apple. In einem Bericht an die US-Börsenaufsicht SEC hat Microsoft erstmals konkrete Zahlen zum bislang mit den Surface-Tablets erzielten Umsatz gemacht. Gemäss diesem 10-K-Formular erwirtschaftete Microsoft seit dem Verkaufsstart der Surface-Tablets mit diesen Geräten einen Umsatz von 853 Millionen US-Dollar. Aufgrund der grossen Unterschiede zwischen dem Surface RT und dem Surface Pro ist es schwierig, anhand des erzielten Umsatzes auf die Anzahl der abgesetzten Tablets zu schliessen. Schätzungen zufolge soll Microsoft bis zum Ende des Junis rund 1.7 Millionen Surface-Tablets verkauft haben.

Galaxy S3 & Galaxy Note 2: Höhere Kundenzufriedenheit als iPhone 5
Laut des “American Consumer Satisfaction Index” haben sich die beiden Samsung-Smartphones Galaxy S3 und Galaxy Note 2 in den USA als die Devices gezeigt, die die höchste Kundenzufriedenheit erreichen. Von 100 möglichen Punkten konnte das Samsung Galaxy S3 84 Punkte erreichen und lag damit auf dem ersten Platz des Rankings – das Samsung Galaxy Note 2 wurde mit 82 Punkten gelistet und nahm Platz 2 ein. Cyberport hatte heute für kurze Zeit das Surface RT mit 32 GB für 249 Euro im Cybersale und das scheint der Preis zu sein, zu dem sich dann doch Einige für Microsofts Einsteiger-Tablet begeistern können. Die 180 Stück, die Cyberport für das Sonderangebot vorgesehen hatte, waren nämlich ratzfatz weg. Samsung Galaxy S4: Trick verbessert Benchmark
Wie ein aufmerksamer Twitter-Nutzer festgestellt hat, hat Samsung beim Flaggschiff-Modell Galaxy S4 einen Trick angewendet, um bessere Ergebnisse im Benchmark erreichen zu können. Konkret handelt es sich dabei um den AnTuTu-Benchmark und das Galaxy S4, das mit der Samsung-Exynos-5-CPU (Octa Core) ausgerüstet ist. Bei diesem liegt die Taktrate der GPU normalerweise bei 480 MHz, sprich bei normalen Anwendungen wie Spielen oder Apps. Nach einer Prüfung durch die Anbieter des AnTuTu-Benchmarks wurde die Taktrate des Samsung Galaxy S4 im Test aber mit 533 MHz gemessen. Dies wäre laut Expertenmeinung sogar zu vertreten, allerdings hat die Prüfung weiterhin ergeben, dass die GPU-Taktrate

Apple und Motorola haben sich geeinigt, insgesamt 14 Patente nicht in ihrem anstehenden Rechtsstreit als Streitgund zu verwenden. Apple wird «Pinch to Zoom»-Patent aberkannt
Das US-Patentamt hat in einem Entscheid das sogenannte «Pinch to Zoom»-Patent für ungültig erklärt. Mit diesem Patent schützte Apple diejenige Funktion, mit welcher der Mac oder das iOS-Gerät zwischen dem Scrollen mit einem Finger und Gesten, welche mit mehreren Fingern ausgeführt werden, unterscheiden kann.
Das US-Patentamt begründet seine Entscheidung mit dem Argument, dass die Formulierung in dem von Apple eingereichten Patentantrag zu ungenau sei. Gemäss dem Urteil geht aus dem Patentantrag nicht genau hervor, wo der Unterschied zwischen der Bedienung mit einem und mehreren Fingern liege. Die möglichst genaue Beschreibung der Patentanträge ist von grosser Wichtigkeit, weil man sich ansonsten nie sicher sein kann, ob die von einem entwickelte Technologie nicht unter den Schutzbereich eines anderen Patentes fällt.

STAR.V3-Bot erkrabbelt sich Sympathien(Video)

Der STAR.V3 (Sprawl Tuned Autonomous Robot) von David Zarrouk, Andrew Pullin, Nick Kohut und Ronald Fearing am Biomimetic Millisystems Lab der UC Berkely entwickelt hat mit seinen sechs dreieckigen Beinchen angeblich die Insektenwelt zum Vorbild. Auch wenn wir noch keine Küchenschaben mit rotierenden dreieckigen Beinchen gesehen haben: mit 5,2 Metern pro Sekunde ist das aus dem 3D-Drucker kommende Teil sehr flink unterwegs, außerdem kann er den Winkel der Beinchen/Rädchen ändern, so dass er sich auch durch enge Durchgänge zwängen kann. Nintendo has just revealed its consolidated results for the April-June quarter, and they show a significant 3.8 percent decline in sales compared to the same quarter last year -- despite (or perhaps because of) the release of the semi-next-gen Wii U. Microsoft Surface Estimated to Have Sold Only 1.7 Million Units Since Launch

FileMaker announces Bento will be discontinued on September 30
FileMaker has released a statement saying that it's discontinuing its Bento database software in favor of focusing on FileMaker.
Bento will continue to be available for the Mac, iPhone and iPad until September 30. Technical support, software updaters for the Mac client and forum moderation will be provided until July 30, 2014. The company said it will not replace it with a similar product and urges users to migrate to FileMaker Pro, offering a $120 discount for existing Bento customers until October 30.

I have to admit that I'm not typically the kind of person who gets sucked into those Farmville-style games -- be it on Facebook or in app form -- that require hours and hours of tedious upkeep while slowly whittling away at your wallet a dollar or two at a time. Sprint sold 1.4M iPhones in Q2 2013
Sprint must be happy with its decision to start selling the iPhone. The company reports that 1.4 million iPhones were sold in the second fiscal quarter of 2013. Even better, 41 percent of those phones went to new Sprint customers.
The carrier didn't sell as many iPhones in the last quarter as it did in the first quarter of 2013, when it saw a whopping 1.5 million boxes go out the door. Overall subscriber numbers for the carrier were also down from 55.2 million to 53.6 million, so the news isn't all rosy for Sprint.
While Sprint saw a slight decline in iPhone sales, competitor Verizon saw second quarter activation numbers soar
