Neue MacBook Modelle am 24. April?

Werden MacBook Air und MacBook Pro zu einer Baureihe verschmelzen?In der Branche wird schon seit einiger Zeit darüber spekuliert, dass Apple noch in diesem Frühjahr neue MacBook Pro Modelle in neuem Design vorstellen wird, das dem der erfolgreichen MacBook Air Baureihe entspricht. A new Pew study has emphasized the rift in technology adoption for the US. About 19 percent of Americans have a tablet of some sort, researches said, and as many have an e-reader. Facebook-E-Mail wird Pflicht

Facebook will in den kommenden Wochen sämtlichen Nutzern eine E-Mail-Adresse verpassen, egal ob sie daran interessiert sind oder nicht. Es ist nicht das erste Mal, dass ein zuerst freiwilliges Feature zur Pflicht wird: Auch die Timeline ist erst seit kurzem ein Muss. Auf freiwilliger Basis gibt es die Facebook-E-Mail schon seit dem Jahr 2010. Mit ihrer Zwangseinführung sollen die Nutzer dazu gebracht werden, Facebook als alleinige Kommunikationszentrale zu akzeptieren. Wie das Handelsblatt berichtet, habe die Umstellung bereits begonnen. Facebook informiert die Nutzer, wenn sie eine neue E-Mail-Adresse erhalten und ermöglicht die Anpassung des Nutzernamens.

Bisher erhielten deutsche Nutzer nur @googlemail.com-Addressen, weil die Rechte beim deutschen Unternehmer Daniel Giersch lagen. Ob der Dienst in Deutschland umbenannt wird, und was das für die Nutzer bedeutet, ist noch nicht klar. In Großbritannien, wo ein ähnlicher Markenstreit 2010 beigelegt wurde, durften die Nutzer ihre Adresse in das kürzere benutzername@gmail.com ändern lassen.

Mozilla tests out opt-in system for plug-ins in latest Firefox nightly build

Plug-ins bogging down your web browsing? Then it looks like you could soon have another option to cut through the clutter right in Firefox. The latest nightly build of the browser includes a new feature that lets users turn off all plug-ins by default and then click on each to enable them (something that, we should note, can already be done through third-party add-ons). While that functionality is still in the early stages, Mozilla's Jared Wein says that they're now working on adding the ability to remember plug-in settings on a per-site basis, and hope to have the feature ready for the release version of Firefox 14 (currently due out in July).
