Fresh checks have shown the earliest signs that iPad 2 supply might be ramping down ahead of the iPad 3 launch rumored for the next few weeks. ComScore report finds drastic shift from web-based to mobile email among younger users in past year

ComScore released its annual US Digital Future in Focus report this week, offering a year-end wrap of many of the trends its tracked throughout the past year and a look towards the next. One of the more telling stats concerns email use among those in their teens and twenties. According to the report, web-based email use among 12-17 year olds dropped 31 percent in the past year, while use among those 18 to 24 saw an even bigger drop of 34 percent. Siri ab März auch in Russisch, Japanisch und Chinesisch verfügbar

Apples Sprachsteuerung Siri galt bei der Markteinführung des iPhone 4S als wichtigstes Feature, mit dem der IT-Konzern stark warb, um Käufer für das Smartphone generieren zu können. iTunes: Downloads von Filmen steigen

Die Anzahl der Kaufdownloads von Filmen bei den verschiedenen Angeboten iTunes, Videoload oder Maxdome nahmen im abgelaufenen Jahr zu, wie der Bundesverband Audiovisuelle Medien (BVV) berichtet. Gleichzeitig meldet der Verband aber auch, dass klassische Videotheken mit einem hohen Umsatzrückgang zu kämpfen haben. Dies ist jedoch den illegalen Streaming-Angeboten im Internet geschuldet, wie behauptet wird.Der Umsatz an Filmdownloads stieg in Deutschland um 43 Prozent auf 32 Millionen Euro, nachdem die Branche im Jahr 2010 noch 22 Millionen Euro umsetzen konnte. In Zahlen ausgedrückt wurden insgesamt rund 4,2 Millionen Filme über die erwähnten Portale verkauft. Das virtuelle Ausleihen eines Films liegt ebenso weiter im Trend und wurde 2011 von den Deutschen vermehrt genutzt

Apple hat nun die noch verbliebenen Vertriebspartner davon in Kenntnis gesetzt, dass das weiße MacBook ab sofort auch für Bildungseinrichtungen nicht mehr erhältlich ist. Mattel thinks it has the secret to succeeding where so many others have failed in bridging that divide between the virtual and the physical -- and it might be right. AT&T to double upgrade fee as device prices go up

A staff memo has leaked plans for AT&T to hike its device upgrade fee. The BGR copy had the cost jumping from $18 to $36. The cost was allegedly necessary because the "overall costs" for upgrading to a new device had gone up, AT&T said.

WeatherBug for iPhone gets new GUI and adds features

There are many weather apps for the iPhone, but I'm a frequent user of the free WeatherBug app. The free version was recently updated to version 2.0 with a completely new GUI and added features such as automatic updating of weather data at your current location, along with pollen and UV data for the sun. The app has moved its settings inside the app itself, which is a plus compared to the way it was done before using system preferences. WeatherBug still has detailed and layered weather maps and a collection of local cameras so you can actually see the current weather, not just instrument readings. AT&T doubles its upgrade fee to $36 come February 12th

What do you do after reporting "blow-out" earnings and instituting larger, more pricey, data plans? If you're AT&T, why not go for the jugular by doubling upgrade fees?
