ASUS announces U series Bamboo Collection laptops, gives little detail
It seems ASUS is still cutting down bamboo right and left in an effort to be eco-friendly. We don't have much to go on yet, but ASUS has just unveiled its new U Series Bamboo Collection laptops. First up in the collection is the U53. We don't have specs on this guy yet, but here's what we do know: it boasts a Core i5 CPU, discrete graphics, and USB 3.0 support. AT&T announces completion of nationwide 3G upgrade
AT&T reported the successful completion of a nationwide software upgrade program that will enable the company to deliver High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA) 7.2 Mbit technology across its 3G cell sites. However, the company is still mum on its 3G MicroCell progress.

AT&T kicks it into overdrive, rolls out 7.2Mbps everywhere -- but there's a catch
AT&T was quick to steal a smidge of T-Mobile's thunder today with the announcement at an investor's conference that has sped up its 7.2Mbps HSPA software upgrade to all 3G cell sites, moving up the original deadline of 2011. Here's the thing, though: they didn't really move up the 2011 date because 7.2Mbps-capable cells don't do much good without a wide-enough pipe to feed them on the back end. That's the other part of AT&T's one-two punch for boosting network speeds, and that part won't be wrapped up for a while yet. AT&T completes 7.2Mbps software upgrade of all 3G nodes
AT&T has finished a software upgrade of all of its 3G cell sites across the US, according to company representatives. The deployment is said to have been an accelerated one, designed mainly to improve the "consistency" of data access for subscribers. While technically adding support for 7.2Mbps 3G, beyond the current 3.6Mbps, AT&T must also complete a series of backhaul hardware upgrades before people see genuinely faster speeds.

Sony, IMAX & Discovery bringing 24/7 3D home first in 2011
Since it was one of the first to launch 24/7 HD broadcasting with Discovery HD Theater, it only makes sense Discovery is blazing the 3D path, helped along by Sony and IMAX. The bad news? ASUS NX90Jq is Bang & Olufsen designed, has dual, turntable-like touchpads
It seems ASUS has been spending some time with Bang & Olufsen's Chief designer to create a heck of a laptop. There's no denying this is one sleek looking lappie with a polished aluminum exterior, but it's got some pretty cool tricks too -- including dual touchpads that supposedly gives you a DJ turntable-like experience. The high-def, 18.4-inch display is flanked by B&O ICEpower speakers and is clearly meant to live in your living room. It's not all looks here, though. It's got a Core i7 processor, NVIDIA GeForce GT 334M graphics, support for up to 1280GB of storage (with dual drives), a slot-in Blu-ray drive and USB 3.0. PURE launches line of web-connected digital radios at CES

iLuv intros Alarm Clock Dock, TATZ headphones and earphones
iLuv has introduced a new headphone series, Tatz, and a new iPhone dock, App Station. Canon exposes new A-Series PowerShots
Continuing its CES-related announcements, Canon has revealed four new A-Series PowerShot cameras: the A490, A495, A3000 IS and the A3100 IS. The group has been enhanced in several ways, most notably with increased light sensitivity ranging up to ISO 3200. The cameras have also been made compatible with SDXC cards, which will store up to 2TB when the format launches ahead of March.

Intel's CE 3100 finally gets a shipping partner in Yuixx media player
Intel's CE 3100 multimedia processor has been hanging out at trade floor shows for months upon months now, but at long last the slab has a partner product that'll be shipping to general consumers. Lenovo Skylight hands-on and impressions
We just got a chance to play with Lenovo's Skylight smartbook, which runs the company's new Skylight lightweight Linux OS on a 1Ghz Snapdragon. It's an impressively clean little package, with a 10.1-inch display, an integrated WWAN card, and a neat flip-out USB thumb drive for housing user data. Ports-wise you're not looking at much apart from mini-HDMI out, an SD card slot, and a second USB jack, although there is an internal microSD slot for more storage on top of the 8GB system drive. The idea is that all your personal info will live on the thumb drive, allowing users to just plug into any other Skylight and go -- and there were some hints that accessories like Skype handsets would eventually fit into that slot and connect over USB. Rogers signed up to carry Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 as a Canadian exclusive
We still don't know whether T-Mobile is going to take on-contract advantage of the X10's AWS version in the States, but as far as we can tell, WIND won't be taking advantage of it in Canada now that Rogers has locked it up as an exclusive. 3M unveils display with 10-finger multi-touch
3M today unveiled one of the first multi-touch desktop displays that supports more than two input points. The M2256PW has a typical 22-inch, 1680x1050 display but can recognize as many as 10 points, or two full hands, without an increase in lag. It's designed for Windows 7 but should work with any computer that can recognize the input.

Blue Microphones' original Mikey made the quite the impression when it landed back in late 2008, and while a good bit of time has passed, the new and improved version doesn't stray from its roots. Rubin on adding multitouch to the Nexus One: 'we'll consider it'
Google and its partners have a track record of being clear as mud about their intentions regarding multitouch -- they're obviously all dancing around the issue, but there's definitely some logic (probably legal logic, but logic nonetheless) behind which devices are getting it in which markets. Notably lacking multitouch, though is the flagship Nexus One -- an odd device for Google to fail to pimp out in every conceivable way, we'd argue. Our man on the ground in Mountain View today pressed Android chief Andy Rubin on the matter today, asking whether we might see multitouch in a future Nexus One software update: "we'll consider it." It is official: Quattro confirms purchase by Apple
Quattro posted to its website that it had been purchased by Apple today. It was reported last night that the deal had been finalized but neither Apple nor Quattro had confirmed the news.

Canon takes wraps off nine VIXIA camcorders
Canon has announced nine new camcorders in its VIXIA line, based around flash storage. Each new model relies on a CMOS sensor and a DIGIC DV III processor, which have both been improved this year to reduce noise and display better blues and purples. Image stabilization has likewise been improved with a Powered mode, and new touchscreen displays can be tapped to select a subject and track it automatically.

AppStore: 3 Billions Applications Downloaded
The announcement has been made by Steve jobs himself: more than 3 billions applications have been downloaded from the AppStore. A huge success and achievement. It is clear that competitors will have hard time to catch up with Apple, and for most of them (if not all) it is almost too late. Maybe Nokia should launch a new lawsuit in order to find an opportunity to stop Apple's success story, and maybe give some time to its own AppStore to be known by Nokia mobile phone owners: OVI :)

What was a rumor is now a fact: Apple will acquire Quattro Wireless for 275 million USD. This company is specialized in mobile advertising business, and such acquisition will create a strong synergy with the current Apple iPhone and the forthcoming iSlate "Tablet". Android 2.1 gets real on the wings of the Nexus One
digg_url = 'http://digg.com/tech_news/Android_2_1_gets_real_on_the_wings_of_the_Nexus_One'; We already knew the Nexus One would come baked to a crispy golden brown with a new cut of Android, and we've now heard several mentions of it on-stage at Google's official reveal: Android 2.1 is the real deal. HTC chief Peter Chou has specifically mentioned its 3D capabilities -- something we've seen in the new Gallery app -- but we're looking forward to seeing if El Goog's got any extra tricks up its sleeve here. For what it's worth, dev documentation for 2.1 isn't yet online, but we're keeping an eye out.

3M's just announced it'll unveil its previously gabbed about multitouch LCD -- at CES 2010 which, if you live under a rock and don't know anything at all, is just getting under way in Las Vegas. The beautifully named 3M Display M2256PW is a 22-inch, high def (1680 x 1050 resolution) multitouch LCD for professionals (and professional consumers) who require up to 10-finger input with a fast response time. They promised us a device in 2010 and sure enough, Light Blue Optics just announced Light Touch. As the name implies, LBO's product is a laser projector that turns any flat surface into an auto-focused and image-adjusted 10-inch touchscreen with WVGA resolution thanks to its laser- (not LED) based pico projection engine dubbed HLP (holographic laser projection) and infrared touch-sensing system. Marvell Plug Computer 3.0 packs in WiFi, Bluetooth and 2GHz Armada chip for miniaturized Linux bliss
Remember the SheevaPlug? Well, your "Linux computer the size of a wall wart" fantasies just got much more impressive. The new Marvell Plug Computer sports a 2GHz Armada 300 processor (none of that new Armada 610 hotness, sadly), WiFi, Bluetooth and a hard drive of sorts (Sheeva only offered 512MB of flash storage). The unit runs a few standard Linux 2.6 distros, and while it's marketed as a development platform for building embedded devices, the orginal SheevaPlug's $99 pricetag has us hoping for similarly good hobbyist-friendly things here.

Duke Nukem: Trailer zum Film veröffentlicht

Qualcomm's Snapdragon is king of the mobile hill right now, but you just knew that wouldn't last long, right? Marvell is now after its throne, announcing the Armada 610. It's a "gigahertz class" mobile CPU that can not only do 1080p decoding but can handle encoding too, even able to pump pixels to four high-res (2,000 x 2,000) displays at once -- you know, just in case you have a pocket full of pico projectors. CES 2010: Canon bringt Digi-Knipsen A3100 IS, A3000 IS, A495 und A490

Canon hat zur CES 2010 unter anderem eine Reihe neuer Low-End-Digicams im Gepäck, von denen allerdings auf der deutschen Site noch jede Spur fehlt, weshalb es bisher auch nur Dollar-Preise gibt: Beginnend mit der A490 mit 10 Megapixeln, 3,3-fachem Zoom und 2,7-Zoll-Display für 110 Dollar, gefolgt von der A495 mit fast identischen Specs für 130 Dollar. Following up on last evening's rumor, Apple has pulled the trigger and made its acquisition of mobile ad network Quattro Wireless official. A sale price wasn't disclosed -- $275 million is the popular number being thrown around -- but the company's CEO Andy Miller has been immediately elevated to Apple's newly-minted VP of Mobile Advertising position. Developed as a metal DJ headphone, V-Moda's new Crossfade ($200) comes in two versions -- over-ear and on-ear with the over-ear phones shown here -- each in multiple colors. Samsung to demo a trio of innovative OLED displays
OLEDs have still yet to tackle the basics, getting bigger and cheaper, yet here's Samsung doing some funky stuff with them. The company will have three displays doing their thing this evening, the first being a 14-inch, 960 x 540 display that can switch between two channels fast enough to enable 3D viewing. It has a contrast ratio of 100,000:1, a greater than NTSC color gamut, and a predictably delectable 1.6mm thickness. Next up is another 14-inch model but with a different trick: it's transparent. Western Digital My Book 3.0 goes SuperSpeed USB
Western Digital's kicking off the expected flood of USB 3.0 announcements here at CES with the new My Book 3.0 series. The 1TB version of the SuperSpeed drive is actually available now for $179, or $199 in a kit with a USB 3.0 adapter card, while a 2TB version will hit next week. That's actually not a terrible deal if you're into futureproofing, since USB 3.0 is backwards-compatible with USB 2.0 -- you could theoretically use this drive with both your current machine and your next one. Or you could just keep buying cheap storage for the thrill of it. We won't judge you.

T-Mobile takes entire 3G network to 7.2Mbps
It's really that upcoming 21Mbps HSPA+ action that has us all hot and bothered, but T-Mobile USA took a nice little interim step today in announcing that its entire 3G footprint has now been upgraded from 3.6 to 7.2Mbps. Considering that AT&T won't be at 100 percent 7.2Mbps coverage for some time to come, this is a nice little boost -- of course, T-Mob's got a smaller network to contend with, so it's a trade-off for customers. Can someone do us a favor and drop us a line when we can finally have both a blazing network and coverage everywhere? At the same time?

Boxee Box officially announced: under $200, Flash 10.1 support
The Boxee Box has already been semi-announced once, but it's making a much more grand debut here at CES -- and it's coming with a spec list this time. Just as we'd heard, the asymmetrical streamer will be sold by D-Link for under $200, and it'll support a wide range of formats, including DivX, VC-1, WMV, H.264, and Flash 10.1. Service support is equally broad, with Pandora, Last.fm, Facebook, Twitter, Picasa, and Flickr all integrated -- and there's obviously Boxee's app platform for additional apps, plugins, and games. Eye-Fi Pro X2 claims faster read/write and upload speeds
Eye-Fi has announced a new model of SDHC card, the Eye-Fi Pro X2. Like other Eye-Fi cards, the X2 allows wireless transfer of photos and videos back to a computer, or else sharing websites such as Flickr, YouTube and SmugMug. Gerade dachten wir mal wieder, dass es eigentlich nichts gibt, das wir noch nicht über das Google Phone aka Nexus One wissen, und dann das: Die französische Zeitung "Le Point" plaudert frech wenige Stunden vor der offiziellen Präsentation die europäischen Preise des Handys aus. Demnach soll das Nexus One ohne Vetrag für 450 Euro zu haben sein und zwar "in den nächsten Wochen". Mit einem 2-Jahresvertrag bei Vodafone soll der Preis dann "unter 200 Euro" sinken, was wir mal als 199 Euro auffassen. Das Internet ist Segen und Fluch zugleich: Während des Schreibens lenkt es ab, mit einigen Hilfsprogrammen lässt es sich zeitweise lahmlegen und zwingt so zur Konzentration. We've seen this done badly so many time that it's hard to imagine anyone so self serious as Apple taking a crack at it (even if they've already done so in the desktop space), but for whatever reason the company picked up this 3D UI patent back in 2008 under the guise of a few French employees. The patent was just released in December, and describes in some detail a method of zooming around in 3D using multitouch. Phishing scam warning for Facebook-lovin' iTunes users...
Apple’s iTunes team has been fastidiously pushing users toward Facebook, where iTunes-dedicated pages offering access to offers and various free downloads are available; as such we felt some readers may benefit from a phishing scam warning which crossed our desks this morning.
Today’s phish finger comes from online identity specialist, Garlik, who is warning Facebook users of a phishing scam on the social network which offers users a `free' £25 iTunes gift voucher.

It might not be glamorous, but if a $110 camera is all you can afford -- or all you'd trust your kid with -- then it suddenly becomes of utmost importance. 3 Milliarden Apps im App Store geladen
In weniger als 18 Monaten ist es nun also geschafft: Die 3 Milliarden Download-Grenze im App Store wurde überschritten. Bereits im April des letzten Jahres konnte die magische erste Milliarde geknackt werden, eine weitere Milliarde wurde weniger als ein halbes Jahr später im September erreicht.
Einer der Erfolgsgaranten des App Stores ist es sicherlich, dass der Kauf einer App sehr schnell von der Hand geht. Zwei mal auf einen Knopf getatscht, das Passwort eingeben und schon hat man das neuste Spiel oder die neuste App auf dem iPhone / iPod touch.
Da im Weihnachtsgeschäfts '09 sehr viele iPod touch und auch iPhones verkauft wurden, wird diese Zahl sicher in Zukunft noch stark ansteigen.

Touchscreens are wondrous things, but nobody likes smudges, and attempts to magically prevent oil from sticking haven't always found success. The proper solution might not be in fancy screen coatings but rather in removing the touchability together. Nokia fordert sofortigen Verkaufsstopp des iPhones

Phishing scam warning for Facebook-lovin' iTunes users...
Apple’s iTunes team has been fastidiously pushing users toward Facebook, where iTunes-dedicated pages offering access to offers and various free downloads are available; as such we felt some readers may benefit from a phishing scam warning which crossed our desks this morning.
Today’s phish finger comes from online identity specialist, Garlik, who is warning Facebook users of a phishing scam on the social network which offers users a `free' £25 iTunes gift voucher.
Andy Thomas, the firm's commercial director, says that over 460 000 Facebook users appear to have responded to the emails, which apparently exhort users to send in their name and email address to a group administrator. He warns that the cost of this could exceed £12 million, meaning many users won

Blu-ray goes to 33,4 GB per layer
Since the arrival of Blu-ray, many manufacturers started to try to increase the capacity of these media to exceed the 50 GB offered by two layers. Essentially, the increase is dependent on increasing the number of layers to 4,8 and even 10. But even though these achievements are possible in laboratory, they are delicate to implement since it is necessary to make the layers transparent enough to let the light from the laser pass through and at the same time make it opaque enough so that the light is reflected. In addition, one has to create a system that allows focusing of the laser with enough precision on a given layer so that a clear signal is recovered and that is not parasitized too much by the reflections from the adjacent layers. Another approach that is easier to implement is now proposed. Omnivision illuminates the dark side with new 14.6 megapixel CMOS sensor
Look, we know that a sensor announcement falls on the dull side of magical, but without them there wouldn't be any new cameras now would there? So listen in when we tell you about the 14.6 megapixel CMOS sensor from OmniVision capable of shooting stills or 1080p video at 60 fps (with some pixel binning). The 1/2.33-inch OV14810 sensor features an active array of 4,416 x 3,312 backside illuminated pixels capable of 15fps at full resolution. Omnivision is also sampling its new OV14825 for mobile applications. Both should start appearing in still / video cams and mobile phones shortly after they hit mass production in Q2 of the year twenty-ten.

Skype adds 720p chats, LG and Panasonic TV hooks
Skype ventured into new territory today with both a higher resolution and support through HDTVs. The company's beta 4.2 app brings 720p video chat and allows for much higher detail than in almost any mainstream messaging app. Using HD is currently limited to Windows and needs both a webcam capable of 720p as well as a dual-core 1.8GHz processor and 1Mbps Internet access; Mac details aren't available, but most features migrate with future releases.

Apple and Disney dreaming up a new video standard?
Apple and Disney may be working together to develop video and multimedia on demand services via Mobile Me, an interesting Patently Apple report speculates today.
Reaching for the notion, the report cites an October 2009 Apple patent. This patent enables a system by which Mobile Me members could, for example, partially view television or any video content on their iPhone and then switch to Apple TV a Mac or whatever on their return home, where they would continue viewing that content from exactly where they stopped watching without having to manually reposition playback of the video.

Eye-Fi announces 802.11n Eye-Fi Pro X2 memory card
Eye-Fi just busted out at CES with its next generation WiFi-enabled SD card, the Eye-Fi Pro X2. The big features of the new 8GB Class 6 SD card are 802.11n support and the Endless Memory mode, which automatically clears photos and videos as they're uploaded to your machine over WiFi, and there are also some new sharing options in the mix, as well as geotagging support. No word on a ship date, but it's up for pre-order on Amazon and other retailers now for $149. Eye-Fi is also launching its new Eye-Fi Center software, which should make managing media delivered from Eye-Fi cards a little simpler -- it'll be out later this month. Sony launches 1000-shot A450 DSLR
Sony preceded its largest wave of CES news with word of a new entry-to-mid-range Alpha DSLR camera. Fitting in beneath the A500 series, the A450 has the same 14.2-megapixel CMOS sensor as the A550 but is kept simple without the secondary Live View sensor or the tilting LCD. Even so, it can shoot at up to 7 frames per second in bursts without continuous AF and, in a rarity, takes about 1,050 photos on a charge.

Apple and Disney may be working together to develop video and multimedia on demand services via Mobile Me, an interesting Patently Apple report speculates today.
Reaching for the notion, the report cites an October 2009 Apple patent. iSlate = iSpartacus?
The Wall Street Journal is also releasing some information about the forthcoming Apple Tablet, aka iSlate. According to their sources, it will sport a 10 or 11" touchscreen, its introduction is planned this month with an availability forecasted in March.
We are puzzled by a detail in their report. The price. According to the WSJ, it would be around 1,000 USD! Despite the high technology contents of the iSlate, it will not be as powerful as a standard notebook, even though it will be much more mobile and have a more addictive interface.
If this turns true, the iSlate will have to be classified as a luxurious product, even more than the iPhone whose price is subsidized in subscription plans. Christkind spezialisiert sich auf Smartphones (und iTouch)
Der Hightech-Verband BITKOM hat eine positive Bilanz des Weihnachtsgeschäfts mit hochwertigen Elektronikprodukten gezogen. Zu den Hightech-Rennern des Jahres 2009 gehörten vor allem Smartphones - neben Netbooks, Blu-Ray Player und digitale Bilderrahmen." Bei diesen Geräten gverzeichneten die Hersteller dreistellige Zuwachsraten bei den verkauften Stückzahlen. Deutlich über Vorjahr liegen Multimedia-Handys mit Internetzugang und großen Displays. Deren Absatz ist im Jahr 2009 um 150 Prozent auf rund 4 Millionen Stück gestiegen. We're not used to thinking of Iomega as a software company, but with EMC -- the maker of VMWare -- in the background now, some sort of synergy was bound to happen. Iomega's new v.Clone software is the result, and it sounds pretty great. Basically it backs up your C: drive into a bootable, standalone app-wrapped VMWare image, which can run off of a compatible Iomega drive (new eGo and Prestige lines, for starters) on any other Windows computer. Neue Gerüchte um Tablet-Mac: Event am 27. Januar
Nach FOX News und der Financial Times zitiert nun auch das Wall Street Journal eigene Quellen für die Ankündigung eines Tablet-Mac Ende des Monats sowie dessen Verkaufsstart im März.
Die Bildschirmgröße soll bei 10 bis 11 Zoll liegen und Apple hatte angeblich Prototypen mit zwei verschiedenen Gehäusetypen im Einsatz, ob es sich dabei nur um Materialtests handelte oder das Gerät ähnlich wie die MacBooks in zwei Ausführunge auf den Markt kommen soll sei unklar.

VME Drivers for Mac OS X

One of the problem faced by Mac OS X in industrial environment is the lack of specific drivers required to control or manage different types of electronic devices, especially VME.One of my colleagues developed a VME driver for Mac OS X and has been using it successfully for several month in a complex scientific and industrial environment (nuclear center). It offers ease of use and reliability, something not reached with similar solutions running on Windows or other systems. This work has been supported by Apple via its ARTS program.

Freescale to Launch TouchScreen Tablets
For those of you who knew the Mac before the Intel CPU era, you will probably remember Freescale, known as the spin-off CPU division from Motorola. The last Freescale CPU in our Mac was the G4 for PowerBook. While Apple decided to work with Intel, ways followed by Apple and Freescale could cross again, however not as partners but competitors. According to All Things D, Apple has acquired a mobile advertising firm called Quattro Wireless for $275 million. Quattro is a competitor to Admob which Google outbid Apple to $750 million for just months ago. Google-Admob still has to meet justice department qualifications before the deal is complete.

Sony launches Alpha A450 DSLR
Sony just expanded the Alpha DSLR with the new A450. It's got the same 14.2 sensor and BIONZ processor as the A550, but it doesn't have the fast-AF live view focus system or flip-out LCD screen -- you'll be looking at relatively small 2.6-inch fixed screen. Price doesn't seem to be official yet, but we're hearing it'll come in under $1,000, so it could deliver some decent bang for the buck. Panasonic's CES Lumix sextet leaked: FP and FH models galore
Looks like some Asian website, as Photo Rumors puts it, made a boo-boo and published its Panasonic point-and-shoot a tad early. Specs for six (and press photos for four) Lumix cameras have come to light. Verizon ordering 400,000 Palm handsets?
Verizon Wireless has allegedly placed an order for 400,000 Palm devices, an unnamed source has told the Boy Genius Report. The order is claimed to be an even split between two devices, with 200,000 Pre smartphones and 200,000 Pixi handsets.

Lenovo IdeaPad U1 Hybrid: laptop by day, unhinged tablet by night
We are still trying to wrap our heads around what Lenovo's just announced here, but it appears that the 3.8-pound IdeaPad U1 Hybrid is a 11.6-inch laptop with a retractable multitouch screen. It's sort of like the Always Innovating Touchbook, but in our opinion a lot more interesting. When the screen is locked into its upright position in the laptop's chassis, it's powered by a CULV Intel Core 2 Duo processor and runs Windows 7 Home Premium. But when the screen is pulled from its shell it morphs into a Qualcomm Snapdragon powered-multitouch slate with a 16GB SSD that boots Lenovo's customized Skylight Linux interface. Garmin's CES lineup leaked: golf, cars, and do-it-yourself navigation voices
We've just gotten the inside line on Garmin's CES spread, and let's just start this intel off on the right foot: it looks like we aren't going to see a Nuvifone II at the show this year. Here's what we've got in the pipe:
Garmin Voice Studio: This might be the coolest announcement, but if you've got friends with compatible devices, it's going to get old real quick. Basically, it's a PC-based app that lets you record your own nav instructions (which we're guessing is going to result in some extraordinarily NC17-rated Nuvis). The company is saying it'll take about 20 minutes to complete a set of commands -- and naturally, it won't do text-to-speech for reading street names and the like. It won't work on the

IPEVO Tubular wireless speakers aren't quite totally tubular, still slightly rad
IPEVO's products may not always push the envelope in terms of design, but the company definitely seems to have stepped things up for its new Tubular wireless speakers, which we can only hope sound as good as they look. Intended primarily as a portable solution, the speakers are Bluetooth-based, can be charged via USB (for up to 8 hours of playback time), and they can even be locked together to form a tube (hence the name). At $79, however, they are far from the cheapest option around, but you can at least get a closer look at them in the video after the break courtesy of IPEVO itself.

Logitech working on "ground-breaking" Android device according to job posting
While we're all sitting around waiting on the Squeezebox Touch to break into the world of the officially released, it's nice to take a little time to ponder what the next round of media products from Logitech might look like. A clue (and a pretty big one) has been found in a job posting for an "Android Applications Developer" on a contract basis, looking for a "a super-star engineer" who has written "world-class Android applications" to work on "a ground-breaking new product that will give users access a to broader range of media than ever before." Crestron debuts new in-wall mount for iPod devices
Crestron has announced a new in-wall iPod docking station to complement an existing tabletop product. The CEN-IDOCV-DSW includes all of the same features as the desktop station, but allows users to mount in a wall with one of two separate mounting kits. The station can be fully integrated into a Crestron AV system through audio, video, USB, and Ethernet connectivity.

Android catching up to iPhone in buyer interest
Nearly as many smartphone buyers want an Android phone as they do iPhones, ChangeWave finds in a new study. Following the November launch of the Motorola Droid, demand in the US for Android phones in the next 90 days has shot up from just 6 percent in September to 21 percent in December. The number puts it much closer to the iPhone, whose demand actually fell slightly to 28 percent.

Ralink debuts suite of networking hardware to form your beams and transmit your HD
Ralink has been hot on the high-definition streaming content front since this past summer and is now introducing networking hardware that'll make it easier to get all those lovely pixels from disk to display wirelessly -- plus a bevy of other high-speed networking goodies to boot. The RT3572 is a 300 Mbps 802.11n-enabling chip designed for inclusion in high-end displays and media players, including wireless streaming of Blu-ray playback, DLNA content, and IPTV. Snow Leopard malware barrier goes without updates
Apple has yet to update the signatures in the Snow Leopard malware blocker, a report observes. Malware protection was added to Mac OS X with Snow Leopard in order to counter growing security threats, namely the iServices and RSPlug trojans which hit before the operating system's release. While the many variants of those trojans can be identified, Apple has not taken steps to protect against DNS changer trojans, some of which actively target Mac users and direct them to phishing websites.

Meizu M8 to get Windows Mobile apps, 3G later in 2010
Meizu CEO Jack Wong said on the weekend that the new 1.0 firmware for the M8 M8 smartphone, is being developed with the help of Microsoft that will give the device the ability to run Windows Mobile apps. At the same time, Wong revealed that upcoming M8 phones will switch to a new, more durable PET touchscreen, though it is still undergoing testing.
